What does Al Ambra Green Forest smell like?
Green Forest begins with grapefruit, bergamot and black currant. The two citrus fruits are bitter and bright; black currant is a tart berry with a green, leafy side.
The heart is spice with one more citrus: ginger, cinnamon, cardamom and citron. Ginger and cardamom are the fresh, lemony kind of spice, cinnamon the warm kind, and citron is a dry, aromatic relative of the lemon. The base is earthy rather than sweet. Vetiver and patchouli are a root and a leaf, both dry and dark, and pink pepper is a rosy berry with a light bite. No vanilla, amber or musk is listed, so nothing in the pyramid rounds the scent off with sweetness.
Green Forest is the third Al Ambra scent with Forest in its name, after Black Forest and Black Forest Elixir, both of which FragranceGems sells. The three have different note lists: Green Forest has grapefruit in common with Black Forest and bergamot with Elixir, and little else. For the two the shop sells, see Black Forest or Black Forest Elixir.
What Al Ambra says about Green Forest
Fresh, citrusy, spicy and woody is the brand's summary. Al Ambra suggests Green Forest for spring and autumn, and it is the one scent for which the brand mentions outdoor activities, next to daily wear and casual settings. The projection is moderate, the brand says.
Who is Al Ambra Green Forest for?
The brand gives two answers for Green Forest. The product title says unisex; the details block further down the same page says men. This guide shows both. On the notes alone, the scent is for anyone who likes bitter citrus and fresh spice over an earthy base: grapefruit, ginger and cardamom on vetiver and patchouli. People who already wear those two woods will find the list familiar. A creamy or powdery finish is not on offer; for that, another page of the range will serve you better.
Al Ambra Green Forest Extrait de Parfum, 50 ml: size and concentration
Green Forest comes as an extrait de parfum in 50 ml (1.7 fl oz), the only size the brand lists. It is one of 19 extraits in 50 ml in this guide; at Al Ambra every 50 ml bottle is an extrait. The brand describes the oil richness as moderate and the blend style as French-inspired. More on the two bottle sizes is in sizes and samples.
Al Ambra Green Forest compared with its closest siblings
Five notes are common to Green Forest and Essence: grapefruit, bergamot, ginger, vetiver and patchouli, which is the bitter citrus and the earthy wood of both. The remaining notes differ. Green Forest has cinnamon, cardamom, citron, black currant and pink pepper; Essence has lychee, cedarwood, akigalawood, amberwood and tonka bean, so more wood and one soft, almond-like note. Essence is listed for men and comes in 100 ml, twice the size.
Noctis takes the spices of Green Forest in a warmer direction. Both list grapefruit, cinnamon, cardamom, vetiver and patchouli. Noctis then adds nutmeg, lavender, amber, sandalwood and licorice, notes that are warm, creamy or dark. Green Forest keeps to the fresh side with bergamot, black currant, ginger, citron and pink pepper. Noctis is an extrait as well, but in 100 ml, and the brand lists it for men only.
Ravenna is one of the four scents FragranceGems sells, and it has the same format: an extrait in 50 ml with unisex in its title. Bergamot, ginger and cinnamon are in both. From there they part. Ravenna goes to lemon, orange, pineapple and mango, then to Tunisian neroli, black tea, guaiac wood, rosemary and ambroxan. Green Forest has grapefruit, black currant, cardamom and citron instead, and its vetiver, patchouli and pink pepper have no counterpart in Ravenna.
Where to buy Al Ambra Green Forest in Europe
Green Forest is not for sale at FragranceGems at present. The shop is an independent reseller with four Al Ambra scents, and for the others it has a request page, where asking is not ordering and does not commit the shop to adding anything. Closest by notes is Ravenna, with the same bergamot, ginger and cinnamon, though its fruit is tropical and its base is tea and guaiac wood. Black Forest Elixir covers a different part of the list: bergamot again, and the vetiver and patchouli of the base.
Request Green Forest at FragranceGemsA request is not an order, and it is no promise that the shop will add the scent.
