What incense is
Incense, or olibanum, is the resin of the frankincense tree: dry, cool, smoky and slightly lemony. It gives a composition a mineral kind of smoke rather than a sweet one. In the Gulf it is burned at home and for guests, which is why it is at ease next to oud.
