What oud is

Oud, or agarwood, is the resin-soaked heartwood of the aquilaria tree: dark, woody, smoky and slightly animalic. It is the signature material of perfumery from the Arabian Peninsula. Note lists use the names oud and agarwood for the same thing, and “oud accord” where the effect is built from several materials.

In this range its usual companions are incense, saffron, rose and leather.
