What does Al Ambra Hypertension smell like?
The top lists six notes. Raspberry and lychee give a juicy, sweet fruit; grapefruit adds a bitter citrus edge. Saffron is dry and faintly leathery, coriander a seed spice with a citrus tone, and basil a green herb. Fruit, spice and herb meet in the opening rather than one after another.
The heart joins two flowers to warm spices. Rose is the classic one; osmanthus has a fruity, apricot-like tone that picks up the lychee and raspberry. Cardamom and ginger keep the spice going, orange blossom adds a white floral lift, and tonka bean brings its sweet, almond-like warmth earlier than usual, in the heart instead of the base.
The base is the darkest part: leather, oud, tobacco, cedar, amber and amberwood. Oud is the resinous wood of the agar tree, tobacco is dry and honeyed, and amberwood is an aroma molecule with a dry, woody warmth. Six notes of wood, resin and leather under a fruity top set light against dark.
What Al Ambra says about Hypertension
Al Ambra describes Hypertension as fruity, spicy, woody, leathery, ambery and smoky-toned, and files it under oriental woody. The brand suggests it for formal occasions and evening wear, and among its uses it also mentions cooler weather in autumn and winter. For longevity and projection the brand gives no figure yet.
What the brand has not published about Hypertension
Some things the brand has not put in writing for Hypertension, so this page does not state them:
- No figure for longevity or projection: the brand's page says both are still to be confirmed.
- An ingredient declaration: only the notes are listed.
Who is Al Ambra Hypertension for?
Al Ambra lists Hypertension for men and women alike. It is for someone who likes a sweet fruit opening but wants the scent to end dark: raspberry and lychee give way to leather, oud and tobacco. Saffron, cardamom and ginger suit people who enjoy spice. If leather or oud is a note you avoid, the base is the reason to look elsewhere in the range.
Al Ambra Hypertension Extrait de Parfum, 50 ml: size and concentration
Hypertension comes in one size, a 50 ml bottle (1.7 fl oz), and the brand's title calls it an extrait de parfum. That puts it with the other 50 ml bottles of Al Ambra, which are extraits too. The brand's page gives no oil richness for it, and the shop lists the same 50 ml bottle.
Al Ambra Hypertension compared with its closest siblings
Aurum shares six notes with Hypertension: raspberry, saffron, rose, leather, oud and amberwood. It is also an extrait listed as unisex, but in a 100 ml bottle. Aurum adds incense, geranium and benzoin, so it turns smoky and resinous. Hypertension has no incense; it adds lychee, grapefruit, tobacco and more spice. Choose Aurum for smoke, Hypertension for fruit and tobacco.
Essence meets Hypertension in lychee, grapefruit, ginger, tonka bean, cedar and amberwood, again six notes. The setting differs. Essence is a 100 ml extrait for men with bergamot, akigalawood, vetiver and patchouli, a fresh and woody list with no flower and no leather. Hypertension has rose, osmanthus and orange blossom, and its base is leather, oud and tobacco.
Jacob is the same format, a 50 ml extrait, but the brand lists it for men. Saffron, cardamom, tobacco and cedar are in both. Jacob adds cinnamon, black pepper and patchouli and stays with spice and tobacco from start to finish. Hypertension puts fruit and flowers around the same spices and closes on leather and oud.
