What ambroxan is
Ambroxan is a single aroma molecule modelled on ambergris: dry, mineral, woody and faintly sweet. It is one of the defining materials of modern fresh perfumery. On its own it smells quiet and skin-like; in a composition it gives the other notes a dry, radiant frame.
