What does Al Ambra Dawn smell like?
Dawn begins with bergamot, coriander and soft florals. Coriander seed is a fresh spice with a citrus tone, so it extends the bergamot instead of warming it.
The heart is an unusual trio: ambroxan, apple and vanilla. Ambroxan is a single aroma molecule modelled on ambergris, dry, mineral and faintly sweet; apple is crisp; vanilla is creamy. The base repeats the idea with ambergris itself, an accord with a salty, skin-warm effect, next to tonka bean and woody notes.
Ambroxan links Dawn to three of the four Al Ambra scents that FragranceGems sells: Black Forest, Black Forest Elixir and Ravenna all list it.
What Al Ambra says about Dawn
Fresh, woody and clean, with a slight sweetness, is how Al Ambra puts it. The brand recommends Dawn for spring and summer and for everyday use: daily wear, the office, casual outings. Its page calls the projection moderate.
Who is Al Ambra Dawn for?
Dawn is unisex in the brand's title and in its details. The draw is the dry, mineral, skin-like character of ambroxan and ambergris, and the list softens it: apple and vanilla sit right beside the ambroxan, tonka bean beside the ambergris. Anyone who wants freshness with no sweetness at all may find vanilla and tonka bean more than they asked for. Coriander at the top is for anyone who prefers a spice that reads as citrus.
Al Ambra Dawn Extrait de Parfum, 50 ml: size and concentration
Dawn is sold by the brand as a 50 ml extrait de parfum, 1.7 fl oz, and in no other size. That is the same format as the four Al Ambra scents FragranceGems sells. Al Ambra's page gives the oil richness as moderate and the blend style as French-inspired.
Al Ambra Dawn compared with its closest siblings
Bergamot, apple, vanilla and ambergris: four of Dawn's notes are also in Lenard. Lenard is a larger and differently typed bottle, an eau de parfum of 100 ml titled for men, and its list is longer. Pineapple and blackcurrant join the fruit, birch and juniper berries add smoke and pine, and jasmine, patchouli, musk and oakmoss fill the rest. Dawn is simpler. Its own notes are coriander, ambroxan and tonka bean, and it has no moss, no birch and no flower by name.
For Tysir the brand lists the same notes as for Lenard, so the overlap with Dawn does not change. Tysir too is a 100 ml eau de parfum for men. What matters for a choice is the weight of the list. Tysir carries eight notes that Dawn does not, among them birch, oakmoss and patchouli, all dark or earthy. Dawn carries three that Tysir does not, and two of them, ambroxan and coriander, are dry and fresh.
The third comparison is with a scent the shop sells. Black Forest Elixir matches Dawn in format: a unisex extrait de parfum in 50 ml. Ambroxan, bergamot and vanilla are in both. The Elixir is much the busier composition, with twelve notes Dawn lacks, from aldehydes and white peach to vetiver, akigalawood and patchouli. Dawn keeps apple, coriander, tonka bean and ambergris for itself. Think of Dawn as the shorter, cleaner list and of the Elixir as the longer, more floral one.
Where to buy Al Ambra Dawn in Europe
Dawn is close to what FragranceGems carries, yet the shop, an independent reseller, does not list it at the moment. To ask for it, press the button below and fill in the request form. The shop reads these, but a request is no order and no guarantee. The two nearest scents in the shop both list ambroxan, the molecule in Dawn's heart. Black Forest Elixir has ambroxan, bergamot and vanilla, three of Dawn's notes, in a longer list with white peach and patchouli. Ravenna has ambroxan and bergamot and goes a fruitier way, with pineapple, mango and black tea.
Request Dawn at FragranceGemsA request is not an order, and it is no promise that the shop will add the scent.
