What does Al Ambra Lenard smell like?
Lenard opens with four fruits: bergamot, apple, pineapple and blackcurrant. Pineapple and apple are rebuilt notes, juicy and crisp, and blackcurrant adds a tart, green berry.
The heart is drier. Birch gives a smoky, tar-like wood note, juniper berries are piney, jasmine is the one flower and patchouli is earthy. The base is musk, oakmoss, an ambergris accord and vanilla. Oakmoss is why the brand calls the style a modern chypre: fruit at the top, moss at the bottom.
One fact is worth knowing. The brand lists exactly the same twelve notes for Tysir, in a slightly different order. On paper the two cannot be told apart by their pyramids.
What Al Ambra says about Lenard
The brand describes Lenard as fresh, fruity and woody, slightly musky. It names no season. The occasions on its page are daily use, office wear and casual outings, and the projection is moderate.
Who is Al Ambra Lenard for?
Al Ambra lists Lenard for men. Fruit on smoky wood on moss is a structure found in many men's scents, yet nothing in it shuts anyone out: pineapple, blackcurrant, jasmine and vanilla are no one's property. Lenard is for you if you like a juicy opening that dries out into birch and oakmoss. It is less so if smoke or moss bothers you, or if you want your fruit to stay sweet all the way down.
Al Ambra Lenard Eau de Parfum, 100 ml: size and concentration
The brand offers Lenard in one format: eau de parfum, 100 ml (3.4 fl oz). Its page labels the oil richness moderate to high and the blend style French-inspired. Like the other 20 eaux de parfum in this guide, Lenard has no 50 ml version; at Al Ambra the smaller bottle is used for extraits only. For what the sizes mean in practice, see sizes and samples.
Al Ambra Lenard compared with its closest siblings
Tysir is Lenard under another name, as far as the brand's note lists go. All twelve notes are the same, from bergamot, apple, pineapple and blackcurrant through birch, juniper berries, jasmine and patchouli to musk, oakmoss, ambergris accord and vanilla. Type, size and audience match too: eau de parfum, 100 ml, men. Only the order of the notes differs slightly. A note list is not a formula, so this guide does not claim the bottles hold the same liquid, only that the lists give you nothing to choose by.
Half of Lenard's notes are also in Aurora: blackcurrant, jasmine, patchouli, musk, oakmoss and vanilla. Both, in other words, combine fruit with moss and an earthy leaf. Aurora, an extrait de parfum the brand lists for women, takes its fruit from strawberry and cherry and adds violet. Lenard takes it from bergamot, apple and pineapple and puts birch, juniper berries and an ambergris accord with it. Red fruit and powder there, tropical fruit and smoke here; both bottles are 100 ml.
Apple and pineapple are the fruits Lenard shares with Paradise Valley, together with jasmine, musk and vanilla. Paradise Valley builds a bouquet on them, with rose, magnolia, amber, cashmere wood and cedar, and is a 50 ml extrait listed for women. Lenard's remaining notes go the dry way: bergamot, blackcurrant, birch, juniper berries, patchouli, oakmoss and ambergris accord. So the same two fruits lead to flowers and amber in one scent and to moss in the other.
Where to buy Al Ambra Lenard in Europe
Lenard is not on sale at FragranceGems, an independent reseller that sells four Al Ambra scents at present. A request page in the shop collects the names of scents that customers ask for. Putting Lenard on it is not an order, and the shop does not promise to add it. Of the four, Black Forest Elixir overlaps most, with bergamot, patchouli, musk and vanilla, though it has no birch or oakmoss. Dubai Musk shares bergamot, blackcurrant and musk, with magnolia and white sandalwood where Lenard has smoke and moss.
